Tip of the Week – Waste Factor

Tip of the Week – Waste Factor

In this edition of  “Tip of the Week”:

Do you not have enough Rim material being shipped to each job? Adjust your Waste Factors to get it “just right”!

Other examples of areas that commonly may need waste percentage adjustments:

• Wall studs and wall bracing

• Roof and floor decking

• Blocking for walls and floors

Here’s how you do it:

1. Go to the ‘Profile’ tab and select the ‘Formulas’ tab.

2. Choose the formula that is related to the application where you need the waste adjusted. In this example, Length-Coverage is selected so that a 10% waste factor can be added to the ‘Rim’.

Waste, Factor, Material, Forumla, Waste Factor, Adjustement, Category, Products, Applications, Material List, Product List, Plan, Material Product, Layout, PrebuiltML, Prebuilt ML, Takeoff Software, Take-off Software, Tip of the Week, Tips and Hints, Help,
3. Within the ‘Waste’ column, enter the waste amount needed. Here we have entered ’10’ for 10% waste to be calculated each time that ‘Rim’ is estimated. After entering the amount desired, tab out of the waste cell.

Waste, Factor, Material, Forumla, Waste Factor, Adjustement, Category, Products, Applications, Material List, Product List, Plan, Material Product, Layout, PrebuiltML, Prebuilt ML, Takeoff Software, Take-off Software, Tip of the Week, Tips and Hints, Help,
The waste adjustment is finished, now anytime that Rim is called for in the project, there will automatically be a 10% waste factor determined for that particular application.
